Thoughts Of Love Poem by David Wood

Thoughts Of Love

What makes you think that I like you?
Your height, your colouring,
Your grace and beauty, wit and charm.
That's such a soothing balm.

What makes you think I'm fond of you?
Not your delicate nose?
That gently wrinkles when you smile.
Such a lovely profile.

What makes you think I'm drawn to you?
Is it those deep blue eyes?
That flood of limpid blue I see
Where my soul wanders free.

What makes you think I adore you?
The softness of your voice?
Like a soft floating breath of air
Which nothing can compare.

What makes you think I might love you?
Is love only a dream?
That draws you only to chastise
Where the wounded heart cries.

Love, just like a good wine, takes time
To ripen and mature.
It lasts through times, both thick and thin.
True love will always win.

I love your mastery of poetic forms David. This is such a great love poem with great flow. Thanks for sharing. Might I suggest you check out the Poem of the Day today....I think you will appreciate this poet's ability to use rhyme and form. Take care.
