Till Victory Comes Shining Poem by Nicanor P. Tiosen

Till Victory Comes Shining

Rating: 5.0

People who are born fighters
do not easily give up;
When the odds are much too great
they just smile, but they won't stop.

Life to them is one big challenge -
a quitter cannot hope to win;
Armed with faith they march undaunted
even though the chance is slim.

Fear of foe, they know not any
in fulfilling noble tasks;
Midst all dangers, tribulations
never would they turn their backs.

Workers in the Lord's vineyard ought
to be fighters - uncomplaining;
Midst all trials and temptations -
in His promise, ever trusting.

Worn with age and ill in body,
they will go on with their quest;
Until victory comes shining,
they will never, never rest.

You can also be a fighter -
winning battles all the way;
Just hold on to God's rich wisdom
ever watchful, never ceasing to pray.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem during my short stint in the island-paradise of Boracay. For eight months and 20 days, I was assigned to tend a small group of believers in the island in mid-western Philippines in 1994. I had the opportunity to know an old minister who inspired me so much with his wisdom and dedication to the Lord's service while I was there. He just passed away this year, in January, though.
