Tim Murphy Poem by Francis Duggan

Tim Murphy

A member of a long lived Claramore clan
Tim Murphy left his birthplace as a young man
He has lived in the U S for decades of years
And perhaps for what was he has shed his last tears

Last time I met Tim he was with his brother John D
More than three decades back seems a long time to me
John D a good fellow to life's reaper has gone
But Tim true to his genes today is living on

In his eight decade in Massachussets in the U S of A
From Claramore in distance quite far away
Perhaps from Clara Mountain when he was a boy
The views of Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra he did enjoy

And drank a few pints in a pub in Millstreet Town
Of the drink that perks you up when you are feeling down
I am sure his younger years he remembers well
And of what used to be has many stories to tell

I have seen images of him posted by his daughter Maureen
For an octogenarian he is looking fine
Perhaps he will live on to see his fifth score
Since he is one of the Murphy clan of Claramore

In Claramore he is one who did not stay
He went off to live in the U S of A
Perhaps Tim Murphy today does remember the past
Old memories live on though time does tick on fast.
