..............

He put his plastic teeth into the water.
She wiped her face serenely as she hummed
He draped his fake hair upright next to the lamp-stand,
As has always been his secret rule of thumb.

She plucked each eyelash off with a fine tweezer
Until the glue gave way and set them free.
And absently she dropped them in the waste bin,
And kicked the top down quickly with her knee.

He clipped the graying hair that graced his ear lobe,
Then hunted down the stragglers deep inside.
He went after them ferociously in his nostril,
And smiled at himself with subtle pride.

She trimmed the whiskers on her chin,
And wiped off lipstick with a towel.
She dressed herself for bed somewhat slowly,
Wanting to but fighting back a scowl.

She climbed into the bed beside him
Kissed his lips and then turned out the light.
He said, 'I just about don't hardly recognize you.
So we must be doing something right.'

Ageing gracefully is a blessing to the time-honored. An insightful work of art written with conviction. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing Richard.
