To Allison Poem by grace mariner

To Allison

And the lost child at last came home.
Now a woman, but still his child.
Life is cruel at times, making us realize what we are losing when it's too late.
But life was benevolent to you my dearest friend.
Although the time was short, it was time enough.
You realized that what you perceived as anger and disdain,
was really his way of protecting you, his most valued treasure.
You were given the chance to speak of love and time lost.
A true gift, given to you both
