To An Half Mast Flag Poem by Lekan Malik

To An Half Mast Flag

Even if I was not informed,
Or orientated enough,
Concerning your half mast posture,
But seeing you awkwardly,
Is an indelible indication to passers-by
That you are neither elated nor gay.
But whenever I see you like this!
It reminds me that tragedy
Has befalling the nation.
Beautiful green and white flag,
Colossally, I never wish
To see you fly like this.
This is mourning, sorrow and grief.
The drop of national tears
Is now metamorphosing to a mighty sea.
I implore you, fly in your glorious posture.
Be as lively as before.
And when you fly as expected,
Then I know joy has been restored.
