To Be A Better Man Poem by Francis Duggan

To Be A Better Man

Material Wealth and renown i feel no desire to pursue
To my own self i can only live as true
The challenges of life every day i do meet
With others for success i feel no desire to compete
We came to life with nothing and with nothing we will die
Those who tell you different believe their own lie
Into self promotion i have no wish to be
If i were this way it would only make a hypocrite of me
I live in my own way and do my own thing
And of my own praises i have no right for to sing
I only want to live to be a better man
And help the one in need of helpingif i can.
