To Be Damned Poem by Tierra Bradley

To Be Damned

Flesh and blood
Skin and bones
To take one's life
Or that or another
Is to be damned
For all eternity
Exposed flesh
And gun shells
Burns you eyelids
Inhuman pain
To live
Knowing you are damned
Blood on unclean hands
Never to go away
Burned into your memory
Your conscience becomes a cannibal
Eating you alive
A parasite
Eating you from the inside out
Pierced flesh
No escape
Run! Run!
Over the train tracks
Pass the windmill
Down the road
Under the bridge
Images
Memories
No!
Can't take it
The life you stole
The hearts you broke
The eyes tears touched
Gun on ground
Gun in hand
Gun to head
Eyes closed
Pop! Pop!
Now you are even
Damnation follows you
Even in death
To be damned
