To Chopin Poem by Imogene Wagner

To Chopin

You woo me like a dominating lover
Slowly touching fire to every part,
Bending me to reverence, you uncover
All the secret places of my heart.

Ah, the maddening tempo of you urging
Sweet surrender to this mood you rend,
The winged soul mounts to heights unknown converging
Fire to fire to prove that souls can blend.

(November 1948)
