To Jenna 2 Poem by Michael J ORourke2

To Jenna 2

The azaleas are in bloom right now
The rhododendron- bluish purplish pink
Send their fragrances heavenward
While you, Jenna, pick your time to ascent.

The colors of the garden turn my eyes red
Praying that God will keep you a little longer
To see the June roses bloom or maybe the evening primrose
Or the bright full moon just one more time

But God's ways are not our ways
And so, as I view the dogwood
Bereft of all the buds I saw not long ago
I catch you leaf sweeping upward.

God's garden will not be the same without you
Yet your blossoms carry their own eternal fragrance.
Wafting through the air with angelic grace
Speaking to me, 'My petals will never die.'
