I love you like the sun shining
over the barely green grass
like hurricane waves to surfers
and little boys with matchbox cars
Thinking of you I am a spider
with the scent of a live cricket
on my web, a Marathon runner
on the verge of the last mile
a sleeping baby in the arms
of her father
a little girl with a party dress
and patent leathers
And in your absence
a break in the cement where
the sand flows through, the
water flooding the main
Wanting you like a flower bending
towards the sun, the last beam
of a crimson Autumn sky,
an old woman yearning for younger days
