because I wanted to see you
or walk with you
on carpets of leaves
through boulevards at sunset,
where stars play hide and seek
between the rills of water in the fountains.
I didn't call
to squelch the longing
that won't stop nagging
nagging me about you,
to appease my passion
that seems to be stuck
like a long-playing record
that spins
and spins
saying your name over and over
like an incessant melody
monochord, without any pauses.
No,
I didn't call
to fill up a day
that seems empty without you,
like a field without flowers.
To put it simply,
I just missed you!
