To Rhyme Or Not To Rhyme Poem by Mohamed Mustapha

To Rhyme Or Not To Rhyme

Rating: 5.0

To rhyme or not to rhyme,
The big question's being asked
To leave the spoken word confined,
Blank verses to unmask

To rhyme or not to rhyme,
New words held hostage
To polish at the finish line,
Free verses on rampage

To rhyme or not to rhyme,
How lirically incorrect
Distance relative to time,
Thoughts and emotions reconnect

To rhyme or not to rhyme,
Old promises fulfilled
A jolly poet in his prime,
The last ship having sailed

Horses for courses, depends on the poetry form - sonnet or haiku - too easy to write free verse.
