To The Young Someone.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

To The Young Someone....

i only liked your body
and i pray that you lend it
to me

i am old and lonely
and i need just your body
to warm me for the night

i do not ask for love
i had it all
i do not ask for a relationship
i had it once
i do not say i love you
oh, it is so unnecessary
i only need your body
to warm me for the night
to make me feel young again
and my strength regained

Solomon, the harem keeper,
are you still there?
tell me more about all the virgins
who gave you wisdom
who gave you youth
who gave you hope
who gave you back
desire

and then you call me
here comes the dirty old man again
singing his dirty songs
do not listen to him

and the dogs bark and the
cocks crowed and the birds are mocking
do not judge me
till you become an old man too
begging for a body, begging for warmth
and for a short company
