Toffee Poem by Hans Raj Sharma

Toffee

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, by the way
Of blessedness
Along
The widespread
Short-cut
Highway of life.
Where people
Faint and fade
Fall and freeze
Flash by flash
Every day
Figure by figure
According to age
Being
Nothing certain
Sometimes
Out of turn too.

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, the heart
Hunger and thirst.
The dirty and dusty
Skin and body
Spirit, mind and soul
Smelling so foul
Repelling
The whole divinity.

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, the kindness
As summed by the way.
The evilness thriving
Refreshing with
Foul smelling
Perfumes
Inviting like minded
To the celebrations
At religious foods.
Causing infections
Escaping in vain
Still goes on
Fever and delirium.

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, right from
Very beginnings.
Performing
In obligations
Small tasks and duties
Burden-droppings
Transcending
Confusions
And perplexities
Or the snags, silently.
Facing in solitude
Teething troubles
The hotchpotch
Of hidden sacrifices
Sympathies
And forgiveness's.

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, still finding
No wickedness
With endurance.
Standing unaided
For the happy ending
Trying to understand
The simple laws of life.

Freezing
And perishing
Melting slowly
Slowly, carrying on
Firmly and merrily
With doomed journey
Of the life in hand.
