Together Poem by Adam Rubenstein

Together

I haven’t been myself lately
But, who am I?
I am what I proclaim to be
But what if what I proclaim to be
…… Isn’t me?

I am that twinkle (in the nights sky)
I am that smile (as you rise)
I am both night and day
I am the moon
And she, she is the sun
But who is she?

I am that tear (as it trails down a face)
I am that gasp (as you look for the right words to say)
I am that pain (when your love goes away)
I am both night and day
I am the moon
And she, she is the sun
But where is she?

For I am the night
But without her
Have no day.
For there is no day;
While my sun is far away.

We are the hope (of a brighter day)
We are the angles (you look to as you pray)
We are the mountains (and the heavens held high)
We are

We are
It’s not me
It’s not you
It’s us

It’s not one
It’s not two
It’s us

We will be
They and us
Together.
