Togetherness (Cows In A Field) Poem by Paul Reed

Togetherness (Cows In A Field)

We have chosen to lie together
In this corner of a field of lush grass
No-one told us to do it;
We made our own minds up.

It is a long, large field
We could have picked any spot,
But we picked this one.

We don't argue amongst ourselves
For we are peaceful sorts.

We have had quite a nice day
Munching grass and looking at things,
But then we got a bit tired
And needed to lie down.
Which we did.
Here,
In this corner of a field of lush grass.

There is a respectable space between each one of us
Enough space to allow us to feel unhampered
But close enough to know we are together.

We are all of the same mind
Although we didn't discuss things first
We all just drifted to this corner
And lay down.

Later in the morning we will all get up
And chew some grass.
