Tomorrow Poem by Olufayo Ezekiel

Tomorrow

Tomorrow! the child of today.
Tomorrow! the father of today.

When today dies;
like ashes that replaced fire,
like sucker that replaced plantain-tree,
so will tomorrow comes.
Just like the ancestors,
tomorrow is immortal.
For another tomorrow is tomorrow,
and another tomorrow is tomorrow.

Tomorrow! is a myth.
Tomorrow! nobody knows.

Though, the oracle may foretell;
a bit part of you,
like a sacred egg,
not even the tortoise;
knows what you can bring.
Let the wickeds know that;
when you are back a new,
the tables will turn.

Tomorrow! a friend to procrastinators.
Tomorrow! a day when sowers reap.

'I will do it tomorrow'
the lazy man says.
But like the running time,
tomorrow awaits no man.
As the sky unfolds;
either good or bad,
the reapers will reap.
like generations unborn;
tomorrow never dies.
