Torn Poem by Casey Stewart

Torn

You listened to me burn your heart
You realized I’m not completely there
That part of my heart is elsewhere,
But I’m afraid you’ve learned to ignore
So now we continue on
As though you never learned at all
But I am torn
I look at you as though you are the past
Routine pounds its fists against my skin
And I fall to my knees in boredom
How can I allow myself to walk with you?
When any second I might throw you aside?
The path I wanted to take is gone
I still seem to wallow in regret
I don’t see our future, I don’t want to
But I don’t want to leave
I’m torn and I think I know the reason
Time will tell, the days will reveal the final answer
