Touching The Wind Poem by Joan Marques

Touching The Wind

My spirit touched the wind today
As I enjoyed the delight of my sight
A trio of merry leaves swirled down
And laid by my feet ever so light

A sleepy woman slowly walked by
Pillow lines still visible in her face
That desolate tune emerged again
The one my heart tried to place

How can one catch a naked melody
With no words around it wrapped?
Oh mental maze – oh endless trial
Keeping this poor psyche trapped!

A huge gray cat peered into the world
As my mind's eye inspected my soul
This beautiful, fickle moment in time:
Would it mean anything in the whole?

How many more rounds for me to go
On this seemingly eternal carrousel?
Familiar names and faces –to and fro
To a destination no one could tell

And suddenly there was a glimpse
Of silent sadness without console
A smile, lost forever, faintly emerged
Before my autopilot regained control

My spirit touched the wind today
And made an emotional dive
It remembered all that came and went
In this, my current life
