Toy Poem by C.S. Keskuela

Toy

Once you questioned me
Said I had low self-worth
But can’t you see?
I love me! For who I am
And who I want to be
And so then what does that suggest
You called yourself the toy, a plaything at best
To what does that attest?
That you are not worth more?
Or that I was just the game
And to what does this conquest
Ease your ego toward, what do you call it’s name?

But you are not so callous and coy
No, not cold enough to play that game...
And this time has given both of us joy
I felt it all in your touch
The way you held me to you

And I was always just sure
That it was you that I wanted
