Traffic Poem by Charles Hanson Towne

Traffic

Hoof-beats thundering on the paves,
Wagons crashing by.
(But O I dream of distant waves,
God's tent of open sky!)

Bells that clamor all day long,
Rush and roar of steam.
(But I have heard a robin's song,
If only in my dream!)
