Tragic Pride Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Tragic Pride

Tragic Pride

With her I, always talked
About the rights to life.

Now, with heart between jaws
Praise her love, pride.

Cutting short, simplified:
"Her death was dignified."

At Oxus, said Genghis:
"Wish he was my prince."

Tonight, I raise goblet
To princess, prince
That sold life for pride.

World has had one Genghis,
Napoleon, Nader Shah,
And single Ollantay.

But they are
The Torah
And Bible
And Koran!

We adore diamonds
For being pristine,
As are the Galaxies.

I asked her with smile:
"Still on the same line?
Boyish life, dead, alive? "

Yes!
Yes!
Yes!

Sarcastic, tipsy-like
She shouted and replied:
"Love to live and die wild,
Find women to have done! "
