Transfer Poem by David Harris

Transfer

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes we transfer our own guilt
onto people that we love.
Pushing them away
instead of drawing them close,
we punish them for their mistakes
as well as our own.
We knaw away their existence
so they never know the truth.
Hurting them the way we felt
that we should have been.
When we realize what we have done
there is no time for recompense,
too late to turn back the clock.
Too much damage has been done
and we forget the hurt they might feel
by the unanswered questions they have.
The sorrow of unknowing
that they readily feel
all because we transferred
our guilt onto them.
