Tremors Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Tremors

When she felt I didn't hear her
She'd send tremors that rocked & shook
My very sole.
A reminder to where we stand.
No where I stood was safe.
A rumble beneath my feet, the boundary
Between faith and gravity tested.
The way I feel
The way she felt.
She grabbed my attention crossing the street.
Ignoring cars, stair railings & elevators.
I felt prompt to take cover,
Her heart skipping a beat.
Her womb pacing back & forth,
Her purpose proactive to the sole of my very being.
Folding & tearing street signs in half,
Whole buildings dissolved in the blink of an eye.
She swallows cities whole
& dies of thirst, an eater of worlds.
She can feel my heart beat when I step & skip.
Beauty is skin deep.
I wrote my name on her heart
