Friends are like the morning dew,
Which greets the rising sun.
But when they see it going down,
They leave us one by one.
When good fortune smiles on us,
And claims us for its own.
How many loving friends we find,
Their conscience to be known.
But should misfortune cross our path,
And sorrows dim our eye.
How soon those friends forget us,
How quick they pass us by.
So be careful with your friendship,
Select a chosen few.
May they be rich in wisdom,
May they be great and true.
And whatever God you believe in,
He's the Greatest friend of all.
Live a long life filled with virtue,
Be kind help others walk tall.
" Select a chosen few May they be rich in wisdom May they be great and true." So beautifully worded, so beautifully conveyed. Top marks! Onto my Poem List.
I concur with the wonderful thoughts of the great Poet that some friends are just there on sunny days but disappear on rainy days. And so very true, God is our greatest friend of all.
A beautiful poem with insight and meaningful message. Friendship depends on trust and respect. If these two elements cease to exist, then friendship will be nothing but mere acquaintance.

This poem really resonates with me Shaun. Several years ago I had to cut off several so - called friends. Fortunately, I now have some very solid friendships including two artistically minded ones from Germany. Last year I was invited to Germany for my friend Lukas' wedding and was asked to read out a poem in church in honour of the bride and groom..anyway, it's a touching ten from me!
