Trying To Breathe Poem by Carrie Kath

Trying To Breathe

she thinks so softly
she whispers so loud
she needs her voice to be heard
she needs her family to be proud

she loves too deeply, too much, indeed
but when she needs something
it's yelled out as greed

she's trying to do
what's best for herself
but in between all of that
she tries to do what's best for everyone else

she needs to put herself first
she needs to understand
she needs to feel loved
really she needs a helping hand

but when it comes down to it
when the situation occurs
she's stronger than you'd think
her eyes no longer blurred

you'd think that she'd have done it by now
because she's been talking about it for so long
but she thinks of the what if's, and what might be so wrong

the what if's in life, that's her strife
that's her daily battle
then she whines about it
like a baby looking for its rattle

she's cold, she's hot
she's short, but can't be stopped

she's the person you'd love to meet
she's the person, always looking at her feet

she's brilliant and creative
she's spontaneous and random
she's supportive and easy-going
she's easy to talk to, so they've said
she's the one who struggles each night
wondering where she'll sleep, his or her bed

she's enduring, endearing, conclusive and emotional
she's a woman, no doubt, and her mind, has so much control

she's amazing, in more ways than one
and it doesn't take a drug or drink, for her to have fun

she's doubtful and worrysome
she's full of personality
not multiple just one, you see

and in the end of it all, she just needs some time.... to breathe.
