Unanswered Love Poem by Runita R Menezes

Unanswered Love

Don’t you love me, just a wee bit?
The dreams I had of us as together, do I have to forfeit?
The time we spent with each other I have treasured dearly,
But I didn’t know that those would be history so quickly.

You don’t want me around, I understand.
But, what you don’t know is that I’m not asking for your hand.
The little more than friendship we had, meant a lot to me,
But if it cannot last, then let it be.

But would you pray that my mind should rest,
And my heart that flew away should come back to its nest.
The dreams I’d dreamt of us, can they be stopped?
And the tears I shed for you, can they be mopped?

I love you and I always will,
For its something I just cannot kill.
But please don’t behave with me the way you do,
For friends like you are very few.
