Under Construction Poem by Oluwaseyi Francis Adeosun

Under Construction

UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
Like the popular story in the bible,
About Israelites, during their struggle.
They roam about day and night in the jungle,
Pleading that God should help them from their troubles.
Those who initiated the grumbling,
Were no longer in the land of the living,
When their turmoil came to a perfect ending.

Our land have witnessed series of handling over,
We all expected this calamity to be over.
Yet, we are still within the reach of danger.
In our land, they treat us like we are strangers,
Feeling they are legitimately stronger.
Not minding the agitations of good reformers.

Whenever they need our right,
They flash us with a ray of light.
Thinking this is our hope,
They later come to us with them a bunch of rope,
To tie us like helpless goat.
We are lucky if we avoid being dragged to a hole.
They maneuver us like an owl.

Out we go in a sunny weather,
Hoping that this will bring a better striker,
Who will pull us out of relegation waters.
This time, they promise to be our umbrella,
With this, we become even more loyal.
But when they eventually get eku da,
They seek us with a glaring dagger.

This forever remains in our memory,
That they left us in our agony,
We always recall the state of ipaniti,
Inflict on us with their so-called immunity.
This is never our destiny,
We beg you our deity,
To help us through your divinity.

Really hopeful for a better future,
When we will leave this land of torture,
To a land devoid of turmoil or vulture,
Where everybody will sincerely perform his functions,
And stop deceiving people with structures.
There, there will be no improper fraction.
Indeed, our road to success is under construction.
