Underneath The Grass We'Ve Paved... I Am Your Goat. Poem by Jennifer Gordon

Underneath The Grass We'Ve Paved... I Am Your Goat.

dub me the goat
Throw it all down on me
all your words,
all your pain
like straw let it fall on my mane
I'll carry it all
all your burdens
all your hurting
Give it all to me
If I can help you
than you can help me
I am the camel
I am your goat.
Lay it all down
Sprinkle it on my coat.
I'll take it off your shoulders.
Why not? I am just me.
Cover me with your blanket of not knowing
Oh my legs broke from the weight?
no problem add more
it is just my fate.
Keep it coming.
It feels like nothing.
the bones that break.
the hearts that sank
Keep it coming.
Keep it coming
You have nothing left?
Steal what's left of me I won't call it theft.
Oh you can't.
Cause I am buried beneath the ground you have paved.
Pushed and prodded, you thought I caved.
Flowers lain, new grass has grown.
But its okay,
I'll just reap what you've sown.
