Unsung Heroes Poem by Aldo Kraas

Unsung Heroes

Rating: 5.0

The disability doesn't stop you
from being who you are.
It is a part of who you are.
It is a part of the way you were made.
You were made to show and share your gifts and talents: to take every step along the road ahead of you.
But remember one thing: the road that you walk is never fixed
There will be holes, bumps, curves and sharp turns
But keep moving -
Keep proving to yourself and to others that you are a part of
The miracle of life.
By working with what you have got,
You can overcome the obstacles,
Eventually the road that you walk will become repaired
- or at least easier for the next person to travel.
You cannot turn the clock back
To the time when you were a baby
In your mother's womb.
At that time
You were shielded by her tummy
And you were warm and safe.
Once you came out of that dark tunnel
That connection ended
And a new life began.
You finally discovered the light
And your life's journey.
