Valentine Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Valentine

The day will not go as others
Without marking it with fun more than others
I shall throw my hands around
On many shoulders they shall sound
It is not a move to fight
Neither for them to scamper out of sight
These hands are clean and tender
With them I shall be a friend and a mender
To humanity; they are to pamper
To neighbour; they are to shake(r)
I tell them the season is valentine
Our love will not be in quarantine
These beautiful cards are not enough
Let your heart be big enough
Turn the other eye of forgiveness
And shake hands in true friendliness
Your love, my love and our love we share
Our togetherness and friendliness to show we care
Remember not only today
It should be for every other day
There is that friend who needs your help
He beliefs you can assist him make the step
Never hesitate to stretch out your widow’s mite
For those you see everyday who do not possess the might
We make it an illusion of paradise
But one day, the Omnipotent will come to chastise
Ponder on the sacrifice of the Christ
His love was not a mere commercial cast.
It reverberated in the teachings of the glorious Prophet
So loving and caring are not recommended for only those in the convent
Enjoy a nice valentine season
And make love the reason.
