Valentine Comp Poem 1 Poem by David Harris

Valentine Comp Poem 1

Rating: 5.0

She sent me out in the rain
When I forgot to get a card one year
And has moaned for a score of years and more
That my teeth fell out and not my hair
Now she’s got me writing words that don’t rhyme
Because she wants me to win the competition
For the best Valentine
Oh, what this poor man has to endure
To get a some peace when I come through the door
All I can hope is that this will be a hit
And I’ll get some silence
From my little moan-a-minute

5 February 1992

Author’s Note:
This was the first attempt for a competition on a local radio station in 1992. However, it was never entered as they only want five lines and this was too long. Four days later, I wrote another one, see Valentine Comp Poem 2 and entered that.

This is very cute David. It seems to me that Valentines Day, like meringue style weddings, is essentially a 'girl' thing. Love your 'moan a minute' line. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
