Vampires Of The Night - Pt.1 Poem by Philip St. Cyr

Vampires Of The Night - Pt.1

They emerge as dusk approaches
dancing in the fall of night
all the while skillfully planing their assault
They possess the knowledge of master huntsmen
both males and females alike
with different strategic plans of attack
Some will swarm as a group,
while others are lone hunters
But all target as many prey as they can find
lying in wait to partake of innocent flesh
They inhale the essence of the warm blooded
it leaves them salivating,
as they are poised to penetrate the surface
Knowing the perfect location to strike,
they begin their feast of blood
hungrily they travel from one victim to another
greedily quenching their cravings
bathing in dripping mouthfuls
until they are drunk from their feeding
Staggering they struggle to contain themselves
as they spent hours gorging in the moonlight
Then as night fades to dawn
they readily retreat back to their domiciles
