Vampyr Poem by Petra Novakova

Vampyr

I'll never forget the last sunrise I bore witness to
The way the golden rays gently caressed my face
As if the Sun God himself was saying farewell

I'll never forget the pain, the fear, the excitement
The feeling of becoming something strange and wild
As my humanity slipped through my fingers

I'll never forget my mistress' eyes, fathomless
The moment I saw right through her pretty lies
As she took what was not mine to give away

I'll never forget the delicate taste of my first prey
The screams I sealed behind blood-stained lips
As the child's body fell limp in my cold arms

I'll never forget what it felt like to avenge myself
The pine stake I drove through the reaper's heart
As ashes of her ancient life covered my hands
