Vengeance Is A Weakness Poem by Daya Nandan

Do not act off vengeance for it will bring you nothing but regret,
It won't bring you peace but rather the seed of each new rising threat,
For revenge never fails to cause collateral damage to innocent others,
Your enemy's father, mother, wife, sons, daughters, sisters and brothers,

If you believe revenge is the only way to bring satisfaction so true,
You will never find peace and happiness with yourself and everything around you,
For when the path of vengeance is chosen, two graves are dug in the ground,
One for the foe you seek and one for your body to be forever bound,

Let go of things that no longer affect you, liberate yourself from grudges and hatred,
No matter how bad it might have been, let it go, let your burning anger abate,
The only thing that truly matters is what you choose to do with the time before you,
Forget revenge, use the present well to create a bright future that you never knew,

Those whom cannot see past the blinding blaze of their own anger and hate
Will never realize the consequences of their action will lead them to their ultimate fate,
A world made of grayness, guilt, remorse, solace, pain and shame,
Where they will be hunted by the loved ones of their enemy, a bounty on their name,

Do not grasp onto the vice of anger and hatred or follow the path they pave,
For it might be something that becomes impossible to return from, a hidden grave,
Vengeance is a waste that puts its seekers life to the point of bleakness,
Vengeance should never be viewed as strength as vengeance is a weakness.
