Vet To Vet Ohio Poem by Luke Easter

Vet To Vet Ohio

Facilitators are not paid, they volunteered for the job,
I was honored, asked to attend by my dear friend Bob,
All Vets are welcome I guarantee you'll not be board,
And for more information visit, www.vet2vetohio.org

At the soon to be history Brecksville VA in room 217A,
My friend, a peer counselor got the meeting underway,
So with Bob's wife Mindy once a former guest speaker,
I jumped into my presentation as a soldier not a teacher.

John, Derrick, Kevin, Rick, Larry, Dennis, Steve on my left,
Everyone participated there's no chance to run out of breath,
It is each one, teach one, we jelled & grew group as a group,
Some had more than others yet no one was left out of the loop.

Achieving psychiatric recovery, addiction, problems that we,
Face through military service which only Veterans might see,
Whereas some come through in days for many healing is long,
'We are here for ourselves' declares founder Moe Armstrong.

What is deleted, destroyed and so on is not always monetary cost,
'We can regain a connection with people & some of what we lost.'
Moe knows, 'many Veterans will not ask for help till it's too late, '
His brainchild, 'Vet To Vet' is meant to reverse doomsday's fate.

While there is no formal memo or understanding that designates,
It's this freedom of creativity during the sessions that originates,
An aura of sincerity that flows freely as a mid summer's breeze,
To unlock and help repair frustration fellowship is the only key.

'Our lives begin to end the day we remain silent about things that matter',
It's a quote from Martin Luther King Jr, and there's no worthless chatter,
Not just found in Ohio Vet To Vet is somewhat like a burger food chain,
Where a special sauce is poured on everything our Veterans might bring.

The WRAP or Wellness Recovery Action Plan is a way to provide,
Through Facilitators and Certified Peer Support Specialists inside,
With training to assist not just the Vet but family and close friends,
Operating independently since the year 2004, let the healing begin.
