Vodenjak

Mojim je snovima hodao
vodenim hodom Dunaa
i sa zlatnim lancem u ruci
sa njim i stari Bind
zlo svih rijeka
u svakoj mu šacu udavljena
po jedna ljudska riječ

golemu nijemost udahnuh
sa pjesama Rusalki
u kolu s njima riđokosa
hvatah anonska klasja
u klipove vremena

u sumrak nađoh trag plaveti
u očima dunavskog demona

u raskozorje shvatih
koliko je teško
skoračiti iz ptice

poet Robert Browning

After
by Robert Browning

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
