Waiting Poem by Warren Augustus de Guzman

Waiting

I dream of someone I have yet to meet, a girl
She would come and make me the luckiest guy in the world
She has yet to come for me as I stand here in the rain
And nothing can stop the oncoming outpour of pain
So I wait as drops from the sky beat my face
Black and white and blue and grey
So with me won’t you stay?
And cry, and cry, and cry
With the sky

I dream of the day she would come, this girl
She would come and make everything stop in the world
She has yet to come for me as I stand here in pain
And nothing can stop the oncoming outpour of rain
So I wait as drops from the sky beat my face
Black and white and blue and grey
So with me won’t you stay?
And cry, and cry, and cry
With the sky

I dream of the way she’d come close and hold me, this girl
She would cradle my face in her long soft black curls
She has yet to come for me as I stand here and wane
And nothing can stop the oncoming outpour of rain
So I wait as drops from the sky beat my face
Black and white and blue and grey
So with me won’t you stay?
And cry, and cry, and cry
With the sky
