Waiting Poem by Paul Judges

Waiting

It's extraordinary the creatures you can come across in the quieter parts of Yorkshire, England.....

WAITING

I found a nymph’s locket
where I’d expected to find love

and her otter was a gauntlet
not just a simple glove

thrown down in the wilderness
of trees, and fish, and water

inside the nymph’s locket
was a picture like my daughter

but that was many years
before I held my soul mate

and in all those lonely days
all I did was just wait

while the dog otter barked
then a chirp and a whistle

as if his webbed feet
had caught on a thistle

and I always kept the locket
in a very special place

because it held the secret
of my own true love’s face

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

A clever write here. Well worth the read. I think we'd all keep a locket such as this one in a very special place. And the crazier amongst us would probably lock it up in a shoe box covered with more locks and hide it under a pillow somewhere. Thank you for sharing. Quite enjoyable, and I like the form and spacing of each line. Never tried that. Well done. Keep Writing... -Rick

Very nice, thanks for the comment by the way. Although the poem was a response to a poem someone else posted that I thought was a bit ignorant. Not my best work, then again most of my stuff isn't.
