Waiting For The Train Poem by Nicoletta Klokkari

Waiting For The Train

Rating: 5.0

Waiting for the train.
The awkward moment
Where everyone sits in silence.
Dry coughs
Strange glances
Ring Ring
The girl springs up to answer her phone.
The grandmother does not notice
As she is lost in her novel.
The middle-aged man rapidly scans
Through a newspaper
Legs nervously shaking,
A constant glance at his wrist watch.
The exploding sound of music,
From the earphones of the teenage boy.
Announcement.
Each wake from their trances,
Rushing to catch the train.
Huffs and puffs
Impatience, anticipation
Ears wide open,
Minds far away.
