Walking In The Rain Poem by Qiniso Mogale

Walking In The Rain

Rain drops falling
Thunder is thundering
Lightning is lightning
I have no covering
No, I have no shelter
I'm out in the open air
I walk in the rain.

Vehicles pass me by
In them are once close friends
They remember me no more
In them are relatives
They look at me as if I'm a stranger
I walk in the rain
I see shelter from afar
A voice reminds me that I was born alone
and I shall die alone
I must therefore face my trials alone

So I walk in the rain
with renewed strength
I walk in the rain
remembering that when days are dark
friends are few
It's one of those days when it is futile
to seek human help
I look up to the sky from where
the rain is falling
I ask God Almighty for help
I find that I've eventually reached the shelter
I've weathered the storm
I've walked in the rain.
