War Going On Poem by Talile Ali

When ever you see people starting to act up
Drug proliferation starts to picking up
When the people began to express their discontent with the man
They drop that drug bomb till they've decimated this land

You see that the schools are being run into the ground
That's because people who can think are profound
You see that racism being used thru out the land
So long as we are against each other, we forget our demands

Our demand for adequate health care, and safe streets to walk
Our demand for politicians who will represent us as they talk
Our demand for a nation free of war, hate and poverty
Our demand to be humane, free of obtuse hypocrisy!

Make no mistake, there is a war going on in this land
It's the war against the people and their righteous demand
But as long as thieving oligarch's are bombing our communities with drugs
We'll only be a nation of uneducated morons and thugs!

So if you believe that we are in a war to be free
Share this poem with all your friends who desire their liberty
And speak against the Machine of Segregation and War
And politicians who say 'It's all because of the poor! '

We are not the land of the Dumb and confused
We are the land of the manipulated and the abused
So stand your ground, just like Gandhi, and say emphatically 'NO'
We are a free people, and we will never let our freedom go
