War Loss Poem by Tarun Ram Kanuri

War Loss

Rating: 5.0

The long day had begun.
Every pleasure is forgotten.
Families and friends too.
And their children who, to this world, are new.

The commander ordered to prepare for the war.
The soldiers know that it is going to be sour.
But they have to do to save their people in the town.
And now I can see many soldiers down.

The blood is everywhere - all around.
I can see many soldiers lying on the ground.
Some of them died.
But they say, it's all for country's pride.

I can see two soldiers.
Who were once enemies.
From the body of them, I can see oozing blood.
I believe my eyes, the colour of their blood is red.

They both born from their mother's wombs.
And now, they both go to their tombs.
I can see no difference in their birth and death.
Now they sleep in their everlasting night.

One nation win and other lose.
Winning side drink a lot booze.
Is everyone in the country happy? -'No! '
It's a fact that the both countries are low.

Everyone in the both countries gathers.
I can see sons and daughters who lost their fathers.
And the sisters who lost their responsible brothers.
And the maids who lost their sweet lovers.

And the woman who lost their brave husbands.
And others who lost their beloved friends.
Are we human or wild?
Fighting for nothing like a child.

Hats off to you, Dear Poet, for this powerful imagery surrounding the death of two soldiers who sacrifice their lives for their respective countries at war. The narrative leads us to sordid conclusions about human existence. Indeed a very thought provoking poem. I believe my eyes, the colour of their blood is red. They both born from their mother's wombs. And now, they both go to their tombs.
