Warfarin Coumadin Poem by Ging Taping

Warfarin Coumadin

we've been together for quite a long time
thank you for extending my life.
you're one of the instrument
w/ God's help i am confident..

it's so intense that I need you so bad
one tablet is all i need
my doctor advised
'never escape one dos per day no matter what
sounds creepy but i am glad..

you became my buddy
wherever I go you are with me
but having you in my life is not easy
bruises appears for no reason at all
sometimes bleeding uncontrollable..

warfarin brand name coumadin
from then..
PTT test do to examine
monitor INR how long it takes for blood to clot
the dosage intake depends on the result
less to more.. more to less

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Warfarin, also known by the brand names Coumadin among others, is an anticoagulant normally used in the prevention of thrombosis and thromboembolism, the formation of blood clots in the blood vessels and their migration elsewhere in the body, respectively. It was initially introduced in 1948 as a pesticide against rats and mice, and is still used for this purpose, although more potent poisons such as brodifacoum have since been developed. In the early 1950s, warfarin was found to be effective and relatively safe for preventing thrombosis and thromboembolism in many disorders. It was approved for use as a medication in 1954, and has remained popular ever since. Warfarin is the most widely prescribed oral anticoagulant drug in North America.[3]

Despite its effectiveness, treatment with warfarin has several shortcomings. Many commonly used medications interact with warfarin, as do some foods (particularly leaf vegetable foods or 'greens, ' since these typically contain large amounts of vitamin K1) and its activity has to be monitored by blood testing for the international normalized ratio (INR) to ensure an adequate yet safe dose is taken.[4] A high INR predisposes patients to an increased risk of bleeding, while an INR below the therapeutic target indicates the dose of warfarin is insufficient to protect against thromboembolic events.

PTT- The partial thromboplastin time (PTT) or activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT or APTT) is a medical test that characterizes blood coagulation. Apart from detecting abnormalities in blood clotting, [1] it is also used to monitor the treatment effects with heparin, a major anticoagulant. PTT is a performance indicator of the efficacy of both the 'intrinsic' (now referred to as the contact activation pathway) and the common coagulation pathways. It is used in conjunction with the prothrombin time (PT) which measures the extrinsic pathway. Kaolin cephalin clotting time (KccT) is a historic name for the activated partial thromboplastin time.[2]

INRThe test used to monitor the effects of warfarin is called the International Normalised Ratio, or INR. It is a blood test that checks how long it takes for blood to clot. The higher the INR, the longer it will take blood to clot (and the higher the risk of bleeding) .Jun 28,2012

never escape one doz per day no matter what.........as I think others suggest in comments, I think you mean dose. When I read doz, I think of doze' (to sleep) , or the abbreviation for dozen. DON'T take a dozen, Ging! ! ! ! ! ! ! :) Bri
