Way Too Long Poem by Anthony Joseph Erangey

Way Too Long

I thought it was cool to reach people by words.
Now I don't. I thought it was cool to reach people by words.
Now I don't. The best way to get one's attention
is to post something inspired and meaningful
and find that one day it is forever lost.

You could reach all in an instant.
How Wonderful, but still too long.

Maybe we could get right in the mind of the aspiring author.
Tweak it a little and use it as an advertisement.
Prop it on the pedestal of poetic justice.
They would eat it up, immediately.

We've got to think this through, you know.
If we don't, somebody will.
Don't really need subliminals any longer.
New public, much weaker, not stronger.

Not only will we tell them what to think.
What to buy, eat and drink.
We will tell them, they need us in their brain.
A little chip should do it. Now just avoid the insane.

They must assume ownership, that's the ploy.
All good families will have it, every girl and boy.
Let's fingerprint at birth, and push our curriculum.
Poise ourselves as humanitarians, the word is mum.

I thought it was cool, to reach people, soon.
