We Are So Vanishing Here

we are so vanishing here

convinced it is otherwise

year to year

so solid living on earth appears

but we are so vanishing here.

laughing when we are babies

as faces appear and disappear

and then pop back and then, all smiles

and peek-a-boo

but when we are older we understand

some things and people bid adieu

though everything seemed so near at hand

and always close

there will be moments for us like snow

when what seemed sure will be overcome

and disappear from view.

all of the glad things we knew

all of the green and all of the blue

changing to thunder and cold

or dew,

vanishing on the flowers.
