We Enjoy It: Poem by Dieury Dumas

We Enjoy It:

The illusion of being free
The thought of Liberty
The paradox of equality,
We foreign people
We probably over enjoy it
And sincerely fall for it
Absolutely looking to it
Immensely search it
With our soul and body.

From all over the world
All the color in the rainbow
All religion and creed
"They are all here, every one of them"
My co-workers are complaining.

Looking for a place of freedom
We find it
Searching for acceptance
We, perchance got it
All together
We stick with it
Until this day
We enjoy it.

We took all our barging
All of our civil wars
All of our genocides
All of our financial troubles
All our baggage we leave it
To the lady, the everyone lady
Originally from France
The one with the light and a bible
All you need to live the American Dream
No man allows' lady
The one you got to see
Getting to the empire
When we are seeing it
We enjoy it.

We have our crabby jobs
Living in basements
Being discriminate
Hiding for immigration
Still! We enjoy it.

Being disregard
Calling names:
Immigrants, Illegal
Boat people, refugees
But every Fridays, we count it
Every tax refund check, we cash it
Every success, we get it
Building this country, we enjoy it.
