Wha's Like Us... Darn Few An' They Are Awe Deed. Poem by Mervyn Graham

Wha's Like Us... Darn Few An' They Are Awe Deed.

Wha's Like Us... Darn Few an' they are awe Deed.

In the land of the thistle, where the unicorn's reign,
Our history's whispers echo on the plain,
Scottish innovation, a proud, enduring flame,
Inventions and discoveries, etching their name.

From the rugged Highlands to the Lowlands fair,
Inventive minds sparked, with ingenuity rare.
We gave the world more than just a glance,
From humble beginnings, our legacy enhanced.

Penicillin, a breakthrough in medical lore,
Raincoat the McIntosh, a legacy forevermore.
TV, fridge, and the telephone's call,
From Scottish hands, they sprang forth, standing tall.

Square sausage sizzles and haggis delights,
In culinary prowess, Scotland takes its flights.
Castles and towers doth pierce the sky,
While boats and planes soar, ambitions high.

Our men are tough, our women fierce,
In every challenge, they persevere without pierce.
Logarithms, decimal points bring mathematical might,
Dolly the Sheep, a beacon of biotech's light.

Wha's Like Us? Darn few, they say,
For Scottish innovation leads the way.
Awe deed, indeed but our contributions stand,
In the tapestry of progress, with a guiding hand.

Wha's Like Us... Darn Few An' They Are Awe Deed.
