What Damn Good Is A Mute Saint? Poem by Michael Pruchnicki

What Damn Good Is A Mute Saint?

Rating: 2.7

Give me Thomas Aquinas, scholar who grew
from a dumb ox in school! Ignatius Loyola,
who founded an order of religious warriors

that taught millions of kids; John the Baptist
whose was head taken from him; Teresa of Avila
whose love transcended all earthly bounds;

Show me another Shakespeare who limned
sinners and saints through the grace of his
majesty as a playwright and the power
of his words as well as any saint upstairs!

Mute angels above, save us from sanctimony!

Mute saints merely look good in stone - words however echo freely through the generations. Rgds, Ivan
